Factorio Server Setup Guide

Setup

  • Deploy a game server and select Factorio
  • Starter tier works for small groups
  • Upload your save file or start a new map

    • Configuration

    Edit server-settings.json:

  • name - Server name
  • description - Server description
  • max_players - Maximum players (0 = unlimited)
  • game_password - Optional password
  • autosave_interval - Minutes between auto-saves

    • Save Management

  • Upload existing saves via SFTP to the /saves/ directory
  • The server auto-saves regularly
  • Download saves from the file manager for local play

    • Mods

  • Download mods manually or use Factorio's mod portal
  • Upload to the /mods/ directory
  • Edit mod-list.json to enable/disable mods
  • Restart the server

    • Headless Mode

    NoobHost runs Factorio in headless mode (no GUI). All management is done via RCON or the control panel.
