Factorio Server Setup Guide

Setup

  1. Deploy a game server and select Factorio
  2. Starter tier works for small groups
  3. Upload your save file or start a new map

Configuration

Built-in configuration - You set this up when you start the campaign and can edit it in the Settings tab of the game panel:

  • Max Players - Maximum players
  • Version - Version to install
  • Server Token - factorio.com token
  • Server Name - Server name
  • Server Description - Server description
  • Server Username - Username on factorio.com
  • Save Name - Name of the save file
  • Autosave Interval - Minutes between auto-saves
  • Autosave Slots - Number of auto saves to keep
  • AFK Kick - Minutes until AFK players are kicked
  • Enabled Space Age DLC - Enables or disables Space Age DLC Mods

Other settings can be changed by manually editing server-settings.json

Save Management

  • Upload existing saves via SFTP to the /saves/ directory
  • The server auto-saves regularly
  • Download saves from the file manager for local play

Mods

  1. Download mods manually or use Factorio's mod portal
  2. Upload to the /mods/ directory
  3. Edit mod-list.json to enable/disable mods
  4. Restart the server

Headless Mode

NoobHost runs Factorio in headless mode (no GUI). All management is done via RCON or the control panel.
