How Do I Install Minecraft Mods?

Prerequisites

  • A Minecraft game server on NoobHost
  • Your server must be running a mod-compatible JAR (Forge, Fabric, Paper, etc.)

    • Step 1: Choose Your Mod Loader

    From the control panel Startup tab, select your mod loader:

  • Forge - Most popular for mod packs
  • Fabric - Lightweight, performance-focused
  • Paper/Spigot - Plugin-based (uses .jar plugins, not mods)

    • Step 2: Find Mods

    Download mods from trusted sources:

  • CurseForge
  • Modrinth
  • SpigotMC (for plugins)

    • Step 3: Upload Mods

  • Open the File Manager in your control panel
  • Navigate to the /mods folder (or /plugins for Paper/Spigot)
  • Upload your mod .jar files
  • Restart your server

    • Step 4: Verify

    After restart, check the console for any errors. If a mod fails to load, check:

  • Version compatibility with your Minecraft version
  • Dependencies - some mods require other mods to work
  • Mod loader compatibility - Forge mods don't work with Fabric and vice versa

    • Modpack Installation

    For complete modpacks, use the Server JAR selector in the Startup tab to install pre-configured modpacks directly.
