Left 4 Dead 2 Server Guide

Setup

  • Deploy and select Left 4 Dead 2
  • Starter tier is sufficient
  • Configure server name and game mode

    • Game Modes

  • Campaign - 4-player co-op through story missions
  • Versus - 4v4 survivors vs infected
  • Survival - Hold out as long as possible
  • Scavenge - Collect gas cans
  • Mutation - Weekly game mode variations

    • Configuration

    Edit server.cfg:

  • hostname - Server name
  • mp_gamemode - Game mode (coop, versus, survival, scavenge)
  • sv_maxplayers - Max players
  • sv_difficulty - Easy, Normal, Hard, Impossible

    • Custom Campaigns

    Upload custom campaigns to the /left4dead2/addons/ directory. Players can download matching campaigns via Workshop.

    SourceMod

    Install SourceMod for additional server management features, custom plugins, and admin tools.
