Team Fortress 2 Server Guide

Setup

  • Deploy and select Team Fortress 2
  • Starter tier works for most servers
  • Configure server name and max players

    • Configuration

    Edit server.cfg:

  • hostname - Server display name
  • sv_maxrate - Max network rate
  • mp_timelimit - Minutes per map
  • mp_maxrounds - Rounds per map

    • Maps

    TF2 ships with many official maps. For custom maps:

  • Upload .bsp files to /tf/maps/
  • Add them to your map rotation file
  • Restart the server

    • Plugins

    The SourceMod framework enables powerful server plugins:

  • Install SourceMod and MetaMod
  • Upload plugins to /tf/addons/sourcemod/plugins/
  • Configure plugin settings in the config files

    • GSLT Token

    Register for a Game Server Login Token at Steam and enter it in your startup configuration for your server to appear in the server browser.
